BIOGRAPHY With an interest in ancient and contemporary art and architecture, he has traveled, worked and studied throughout the United States, Central and South America, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia and Europe. After working and studying in Paris, France, he settled in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1978 were he spent 20 years working as a portrait artist in the French Quarter. This period gave him the opportunity to sketch and paint thousands of people from all walks of life and from throughout the world, as well as paint one of his favorite subjects, the local environment and its characters. The artist works in an eclectic colloidal manner using abstract detail to create social realistic images. He employs a double primary pallet passed on to him by one of his favorite Masters, Charles Richards. Brock spent 5 years during the turn of the millennium in Arizona doing Architectural and Photo Illustrations both by hand and on the computer. Besides working on projects for local, regional and national developers, he had the opportunity to work on important land reclamation projects for Phelps Dodge. He presently splits his time between Tucson and New Orleans. His most recent work is aimed toward creating a series of French Quarter Prints. His favorite past-time is his Art a la Carte series of films and videos about art, artists and the creative process. Though not specifically about art and artists, the most popular of this series are his Mardi Gras Videos. |
